Cama Beach State Park opened on Camano Island in June 2008, the first new state park in more than a decade. Situated on the water against a forested backdrop, the 433-acre park includes rustic beachfront rental cabins and is home to the Center for Wooden Boats’ second campus.

The Foundation served as the contributions vehicle for private gifts that helped make this spectacular park a reality. Situated on the water against a forested backdrop, the 433-acre park features:

  • A peaceful and beautiful island environment, easily accessible to mainland population centers and only 80 minutes from Seattle
  • The Center for Wooden Boats’ second campus, offering boat building and handling classes; youth, individual and family programs; and boat rentals
  • More than a mile of saltwater beach for public use
  • 430 acres of forested uplands with a lake
  • Overnight cabin rentals
  • Conference and retreat facilities
  • An environmental learning center for children
  • A "time capsule" of almost 50 historic resort buildings listed on the National Historic Register and the Washington Heritage Register
  • Courses related to the special attributes of the site, such as regional maritime history, natural history and Native American history
