What We Do

Ranger painting pilchuckThe Washington State Parks Foundation undertakes projects that enhance recreational opportunities, preserve and restore habitat and help educate people about the precious resources in state parks.

Grants and donations to the Foundation are used to fund improvements such as:

  • New trails
  • Playgrounds
  •  Habitat protection and restoration projects
  • Wildlife viewing opportunities
  • Interpretive centers
  • Rental yurts and cabins

Since teaching children about the environment is key to caring for it in the future, developing interpretive and educational facilities is key to the Foundation’s mission.

The Foundation does not fund basic parks operation and maintenance, which are the state’s responsibility.
