Making Great Parks Even Better

Beach combingFrom hiking to biking, skiing to sailing, Washington’s 100-plus state parks offer superb outdoor experiences for all seasons. Whether you want to explore rocky shorelines or climb snow-capped peaks, our state parks offer endless ways to enjoy Washington’s spectacular geographic diversity.

Washington’s state parks system was created in 1913 through land donations from a few visionary individuals. Over the following decades, donations continued to build one of the largest and most beautiful state parks systems in the country.

The Washington State Parks Foundation was established as a private, nonprofit organization to build financial support for parks improvement projects and continue the legacy of giving started almost a century ago. The Foundation has launched a $4 million capital campaign to fund four projects that will significantly enhance our parks system.
